Passage: The Gospel According to Matthew Matthew 6:16-18

In Matthew 6:16–18, Jesus teaches that fasting isn't about impressing others with our spirituality, but about humbling ourselves before God and seeking Him with sincere hearts. Biblical fasting expresses our dependence on God, seeks His guidance, and deepens our fellowship with Him. As followers of Christ, we don't fast to earn God's favor, but because we've already received His grace through Jesus Christ and desire to know Him more.
