Following Hard After Jesus

Mark 1:9-45

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”  At once they left their nets and followed Him.”  vs. 17-18

The character of Jesus is clearly defined as being fully God and fully man; the God-man.   (vs. 9-12)

It is the deity of Jesus that we worship.

It is the humanity of Jesus that we follow.

The call of Jesus is clearly revealed as a command to follow Him. (vs. 14-20)

It is a call to engage the enemy (vs. 21-28)

It is a call to embrace the needy  (vs. 29-34)

It is a call to enlarge the Kingdom (vs. 35-39)

It is a call to encounter the culture  (vs. 40-41)

The challenge of Jesus is clearly demonstrated in His willingness to put God’s plan and purpose above personal popularity and fame.  (vs. 45)

Following Jesus will take you through some lonely places.

By sharing in Christ’s sufferings, we can also share in His glory.  (Rom. 8:17-18)
