Deacon Nominations
Men
Deacons are to be servants of the church. The task of the deacon is to serve with the Pastor and staff in performing pastoral ministries; proclaim the Gospel to believers and unbelievers; care for the church members and other persons in the community; lead the church to engage in a fellowship of worship, witness, education, and ministry.
Requirements:
- Must be a covenant member of the church in good standing.
- Deacons, likewise, should be worthy of respect, not hypocritical, not drinking a lot of wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. They must also be tested first; if they prove blameless, then they can serve as deacons. Wives, too, must be worthy of respect, not slanderers, self-controlled, faithful in everything. Deacons are to be husbands of one wife, managing their children and their own households competently. For those who have served well as deacons acquire a good standing for themselves and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. (1 Tim. 3:8-13)
