Matt. 5:1-12
In the opening Beatitudes, Jesus teaches that the truly blessed are not the proud or self-righteous, but those who are poor in spirit and mourn over their sin. Using the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, this sermon shows what those qualities look like in real life. The one who comes to God empty-handed and pleading for mercy is the one who goes home justified.
