MEDIA MINISTRY

July Service Schedule
The MEDIA MINISTRY at Old Fort Baptist Church is just that...a MINISTRY!  The all-volunteer team is responsible for supporting the worship experience and providing "worship-helps" that enhance the music and preaching of God's Word.
There are four areas of service in the overall MEDIA MINISTRY.
SOUND or AUDIO is a multi-faceted part of the ministry team.  The Sound Technicians must control all microphones used by the Pastor, Minister of Music, worship leaders, choir, instruments and praise teams.  Also this team is responsible for using sound enhancements like reverb, graphic equalization and effects to present the best possible listening environment for the worship experience. This team records services on audio cassette for our Homebound and Audio Tape Ministry.  The control console looks intimidating, but the concept of sound mixing is easy to learn if you have a desire and a general knowledge of electronics.      IMAGE MAGNIFICATION or IMAG allows us to show pictures, videos, announcements, the words to songs and sermon outlines using a rear-screen projection system in the worship center.  The projectors are located behind the screens to the right and left of the main stage area.  The controls for the IMAG system are computer driven as well.  We are able to "build" slides into a worship oriented presentation program and play video tapes or DVD material using a seamless switching unit to transition between each element.  This team of IMAG technicians must employ a general knowledge of computer skills and presentation abilities to present a visually appealing product that enhances and supports the worship experience.
LIGHTING provides special effects to worship services and special presentations such as our Passion Play each year.  These technicians control every light in the worship center from the stage to the balcony.  Using special techniques like filtering, color and "spotting" enables our team to provide the right setting to see and enhance a specific scene.  Members of this team have a console that is computer driven, but easily understood.      The AUDIO TAPE Ministry duplicates recorded messages and Wednesday night Bible study sessions for members of our Homebound Ministry and tape sales or lending library.  A tape request form can be filled out at the Welcome Center in the main lobby of the Worship Center to purchase or borrow a tape from the library.  There is a small fee to cover the cost of the tape and protective case if you wish to buy a tape.  The 8:00 morning worship service, 7:00 evening worship service and the Wednesday night Bible Study is recorded and available usually within a week of the request.  Series tape sets are also available.  Special events, such as the Passion Play, concerts, cantatas or musicals are not recorded because of copyright regulations.  The Minister of Music may obtain a mechanical license to record and duplicate certain events, however this is not normally done because of the high cost of that license.
We are always looking for additional team members who feel that God has called them to serve in the MEDIA MINISTRY.  We feel that because it is a service ministry, God must confirm your desire by giving you a passion for serving in this area of responsibility.  If you would like to explore the opportunities in our ministry, please contact our Director of Media Ministries or the Minister of Music.  We would be delighted to have you on our team!

We are a "behind-the-scenes" ministry.  When nobody knows we are there, we have done our job well!  It's that kind of ministry that allows our service to the Lord to be lifted before Him as an offering of praise and worship.

If you have an announcement for our IMAG system, your may send it to nnichols@knology.net.  Please be sure to send them, at least, three weeks BEFORE the event.
