Discipleship At OFBC
At Old Fort Baptist Church, we encourage and challenge each person to grow closer to Jesus, being a disciple of Christ. The process of becoming a Christian, and living as a Christian is a life long process, and we desire to walk alongside you in that process. We encourage you to join us at your convenience, but challenge you to not just stop there!
If you only have one hour a week to commit to the body of believers at Old Fort Baptist Church, we invite you to join us for a Sunday morning worship service. We have two each week, one on Sunday morning at 9:30am, and one on Sunday morning at 11:00am.
Join us each Sunday morning for a time of corporate fellowship. We have two services - 9:30am and 11:00am. We would love for you to stay and connect with a Sunday School class while you are here! We have classes that meet at 8:00am, 9:30am, and 11:00am. Each of our classes work through the Explore the Bible curriculum. We are currently studying the book of Psalms.
Sunday nights at 5:30pm in the Worship Center, the adults of Old Fort Baptist Church return for adult discipleship series studies and small group discussion. This time is designed to assist Christians in being equipped to represent Jesus in their daily lives. During the months of July and August, we will be hosting two topical study classes. The first is "God And"; and apologetic of the Christian faith and explaining how God and life fit together in 2017. The second class is "Sola". This class will discuss the importance of the church reformation; it's history and current relevance. Several CSU professors and other experts in these areas will be leading these classes. Classes begin on July 9th at 5:30pm.
With words borrowed from Tim Chester and Steve Timmis, the believers at Old Fort Baptist Church desire to be “ordinary people, doing ordinary things, with Gospel intentionality.” We strive to impact our community by being an active part of our community through serving those around us. We also intend to live in community with one another in order to encourage, walk alongside, and live life together more than just seeing each other one day a week. We are expanding our small group opportunities at OFBC to include off-campus small groups and would love to have you join us! Men and Women’s Ministry:
A great way to connect with others at Old Fort Baptist Church is through the Men’s Ministry and the Women’s Ministry. There are weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activities that provide an opportunity for fellowship, growth, and service with other men and women from the Old Fort Baptist Church family.
Each Christian is called to grow in their relationship with Jesus, but is also commanded to train others and teach them how to be Christians. Though few commit to being mentored or mentoring another, it is the most in depth teaching and growth that a Christian can experience. We at Old Fort Baptist Church take the Great Commission seriously in calling Christians to make disciples, and would love to help you grow in this way.
We are currently focusing our attention on long-term relationships with people in Summerville through Community Impact for Christ and Kairos Prison Ministry, in Baltimore, Maryland through The Broken Wall Project, and in Tanzania with the Maasai people.
